KAKAMEGA HOSTS KISII DELEGATION ON A LEARNING EXPERIENCE

Kakamega County CECM for Social Services, Sports, Youth, Gender and Culture Mr Mophat Mandela today hosted a delegation from Kisii County led by the CECM for Sports, Youth and Gender Mr Eric Miyienda; The visitors are in Kakamega to learn, share ideas and experiences especially on implementation of the Children Policy that was developed by the Department and launched by H.E FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa; they sought to assess Kakamega County’s existing policies, procedures and practices related to child safety and well being.

The team also got an opportunity to attend a Public Consultation Forum in Navakholo Sub-County graced by Governor Barasa where they appreciated the initiative terming it a perfect platform for residents to be involved in decision making.

The ongoing Kakamega Governor’s Cup also attracted interest from the visiting delegation as they sought to learn how Kakamega has managed to stage such a spectacular sporting extravaganza that has attracted registration and participation of over 1000 teams in various disciplines.

Mr Mandela acknowledged that the visit provided valuable insights that will be instrumental in enhancing child safety and well being in Kakamega County.

In attendance were Chief Officer for Social Services, Gender and Culture Ms Leah Shisia, Director Gender, Children Services and Labour. Ms Joyce Wafukho, Ag. Director for Culture Ms Gaudencia Otipa and Ms Mercyline Nangila the Head of Children section.
