KAKAMEGA IN TALKS WITH MMUST OVER CHILDREN SUPPORT CENTER
The CECM for Education, Science and Technology Mr Godfrey Owori on Monday hosted a delegation from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) where possible collaboration towards establishment of a child rescue center to support vulnerable children in Kakamega County with special focus on children living with disabilities and chronic diseases, was discussed.
Once set up, the facility will be expected to focus on play based learning, inclusive learning, parenting skills, health & nutrition and child safety & security among others.
Mr Owuor who was flanked by his Chief Officer Madam Leah Khasandi said there is need to utilise MMUST’s existence in identification and execution of H.E FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa’s pledges to Kakamega residents on improved Education in ECDEs though such partnerships. The CECM also indicated the need to partner with the institution on capacity building of ECDE teachers in order to ensure they instill competence based education (CBC) into learners as stipulated in Governor Barasa’s agenda on Devolved Education to the residents of Kakamega County.
