KAKAMEGA MUNICIPALITIES BOARD MEMBERS TAKE OATH OF OFFICE

Seventeen Board Members for Kakamega and Mumias Municipalities were today sworn in in an event presided over by the Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa at the Chambers Hall, County Headquarters.

The members who included the County Executive Committee Member for Lands, Housing, Urban Areas and Physical Planning Dr Mariam Barasa were instructed by H.E the Governor to serve the residents of Kakamega County diligently in adherence to the tenets of the Kenyan Constitution moreso Chapter Six of the country’s supreme law.

Governor Barasa also emphasized on the need for the officers to adhere to the Public Servants and Ethics Act (2003) and other National and global best practices.

Among the key tasks the team will be tasked with is fastracking the process of elevating Kakamega Municipality to City status as well as promotion of Butere, Malava and Matunda towns to Municipalities.

Present were Mumias West MP Hon. Johnson Naicca, where Mumias Municipality is domiciled, MCAs led by the Deputy Speaker Hon. Bernard Shitiabayi, CECMs and other senior County officers.
