Kakamega County Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa Saturday afternoon flagged off a team of staff athletes, drawn from various County departments, who are set to compete in the 10th edition of the Kenya Inter-County Sports Association (KICOSCA) games in Meru County.

The Governor directed the sportsmen and women to fly the County flag high during the competitions challenging previous County trophy winners such as the Kakamega men’s football team to defend the title they clinched in Kisumu last year.

The competitions will see several disciplines showcased among them Football, Golf, Volleyball, Netball, Ajua, Tug of war, Athletics, Badminton and Darts among others.

Kakamega women Tug of war and Ajua teams who finished as first runners in the 9th edition were challenged by the Governor to step up for the party during this year’s edition.

Meanwhile, the County boss has congratulated the Kakamega County Water and Sanitation Company (KACWASCO) football team for emerging champions in the recently concluded Water and Sanitation Companies games held in Narok County.

The Governor termed the win a manifestation of the evergreen talents in the County and affirmed his commitment towards promoting sports in Kakamega County.

The team that also competes in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) County league defeated ELDOWAS from Uasin Gishu County 1-0 to clinch the title; bringing to two the number of trophies won by the Company since they started participating in the games.
