Kakamega Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa on Tuesday joined his colleague Governors, senior Government officers and partners for a 3-day annual Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) Summit in Migori County.
This year’s theme is “Partnership in sustainable development: County responses to blue economy & climate change adaptation in the Lake Region.”
Day one saw Governor Barasa lead participants in discussing the future of the sugar industry in the Lake Region where it was agreed that revival of the sugar sector is vital to the economic empowerment of the region.
Member Counties commited to advocate for proper policy and regulatory framework, and political goodwill as some of the solutions to the challenges ailing the sector.
In attendance are LREB chairperson H.E Prof. Anyang Nyong’o, Governors from the LREB Counties led by the host H.E Dr. Ochilo Ayacko, LREB CEO Mr. Victor Nyagaya and other senior Government Officers.
