LAST MILE WATER CONNECTIVITY BEGINS IN ETENJE WARD

The County Government of Kakamega, under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Programme, has commenced the implementation of the Last Mile Water Connectivity in Etenje Ward, Mumias West Sub-county; marking another milestone in expanding access to clean and safe water for residents.
The project involves the construction of water kiosks at Etenje, Imanga and Buchifi markets, alongside the installation of elevated water storage tanks at Etenje and Imanga markets to complement the existing water infrastructure serving Buchifi Primary School.
Once complete, the project will facilitate the distribution of clean water to households across Etenje Ward, easing the burden of accessing safe water and advancing the objectives of Governor Fernandes Barasa’s vision in provision of water under the clarion call “Amatsi Khumuliango.” The programme seeks to ensure every household in Kakamega County has access to safe and reliable water.
The initiative is expected to improve public health, enhance sanitation standards and support economic activities within the trading centres by providing a dependable source of clean water for residents and businesses.
Present to inspect the installation works was County Water Engineer, Mr. Ian Ahinduka
