MEETING CONVENED TO ADDRESS RAMPANT TEEN PREGNANCIES

In an effort to address numerous challenges affecting learners in schools among them teen pregnancies, Kakamega First Lady H.E Prof. Janet Kassily Barasa convened a stakeholders meeting at Eshibeye Secondary School in Butsotso South Ward, Lurambi Sub-County where she was represented by the Chief Officer for Social Services, Gender and Culture Ms Leah Khasandi.

In the First Lady’s message delivered by the Chief Officer, she stated that the County Government of Kakamega is committed to work with other stakeholders, through the First Lady’s Office, in ensuring the challenges affecting learners in schools are fully addressed.

Through the collaboration of educationists, social development actors, parents and teachers and by addressing the diverse needs of learners, promoting holistic development, sharing resources and enhancing communication, the Office of the First Lady is determined to ensure sanity is restored in learning institutions.

Prof. Kassily called upon teachers, parents and learners to work together towards realization of the commitments made. The school, she mentioned, can create a nurturing and empowering educational environment that maximizes on the potential of every learner through working together.

Present were Chief Officer for Education, Science and Technology Ms. Vivien Ayuma, Partners and other Senior officers from both levels of Government.
