PLANS TO ELEVATE MALAVA TOWN TO A MUNICIPALITY UNDERWAY

Kakamega County Government is in the process of upgrading Butere and Malava towns into Municipalities. This was revealed during a meeting between senior officers from the Ministry of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning & Urban Areas and Ebenezer Consultants at Kamadep Hotel, Kakamega.

The inception meeting was attended by Lands CECM Hon. Robert Kundu Makhanu who encouraged the consultants to follow proper guidelines and incorporate views from stakeholders, mainly residents of the two towns, during the planning stage to ensure a comprehensive plan is crafted.

Hon. Makhanu assured that the ministry will work closely with the consultants to make the process successful adding that the County Government will provide the requisite required support.

Ebenezer Director Planner Protasio Mutuma Mbui assured that his team will do their best in coming up with a flawless plan for the Municipalities and promised to deliver in accordance with the agreed timelines.

“We have presented the work plan which includes typography, mapping and general physical planning of the towns; our organization has the capacity to complete the work on time,” he assured.

Also present were Chief Officer Eng. Patrick Likabo, Director Physical Planning Mr. Stephen Chune, Ministry of Lands Senior Administrator Mr. Hanningtone Maina and the County Head of Geospatial Information Systems Mr. Stephen Wasike among other Officers.
