PRESIDENT RUTO COMMISSIONS AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT IN KAKAMEGA

Residents of Kakamega County are set to benefit from the newly launched Government program which targets to construct housing units in Lurambi Sub-County.

President William Ruto on Saturday commissioned the project at Milimani in Lurambi Sub-County, which seeks to improve living conditions and create job opportunities for the residents of Kakamega County.

The project that will sit on a four-acre parcel of land is expected to be completed by April 2025. The developer will put up nine blocks of apartments comprising 60 Studio units, 20 One-bedroom units, 100 Two-bedroom units and 40 Three-bedroom units at an estimated cost of Ksh 473 Million.

Kakamega Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa who was present to during the launch welcomed the program terming it a game changer to the economy of the County.

The State Department for Housing has already engaged Shamberere Technical Training Institute and Sigalagala National Polytechnic to provide technical support once the project commences.

The Governor further reiterated the need for sugar reforms saying the planned September 8 Sugar Conference in Kakamega County is aimed at finding solutions to revive the ailing sector.

This Sunday the President is set to launch construction of Mumias-Musanda-Buhuru road in Mumias West Sub-County. On Wednesday, the Head of State will meet farmers at Kakamega Statelodge, Commission Navakholo KMTC and launch Construction of an Industrial Park in Likuyani Sub-County.

These projects are key towards enhancing realization of the Governor’s Wealth Creation and Infrastructure Development pillars for the residents.
