STAKEHOLDERS ASKED TO ENHANCE COORDINATION AND COLLABORATION
The Chief Officer for Water, Environment and Natural Resources Ms. Jessica Wesonga presided over a WASH forum at Golf hotel, Kakamega aimed at forging partnerships, collaboration, coordination and networking towards water and related matters.
Ms. Wesonga, who represented her CECM Dr Mariam Barasa, noted that coordination of all water sectors will go a long way in achieving H.E FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa’s manifesto targeting provision of clean, safe and affordable water to the residents.
βThe efforts put in place by each sector will add value to the department’s performance hence allowing self-sustainability by ensuring at least 8,000 residents at the grassroots are served efficiently,β she observed.
The meeting also provided a platform for the sectors to plan on how they will collaborate, network and coordinate in order to develop the final plan for the upcoming International Day of Forestry and World Water Day slated for 21st and 22nd March 2023 respectively.
The workshop sponsored by USAID brought together participants from the County Departments of Water, Environment & Natural resources, Kenya Meteorological Department, NEMA, Amref, Kenya Red Cross, MMUST, World Vision, Lake Victoria North, Department of Public Health, and Non Governmental Organisations among others.
