The much-anticipated KALRO Open Week 2025 exhibition kicked off in style at the KALRO Non-Ruminant Institute (NRI), Kakamega, with Mr Mophat Mandela, the CECM for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Irrigation and Cooperatives officially opening the two-day event.
In his speech, the CECM emphasized the importance of innovation and technology in modern livestock farming, urging farmers to embrace sustainable practices to boost productivity and food security in line with Governor Barasa’s agenda.
The event showcased feed formulation techniques, improved poultry breeds, and climate-smart farming solutions, providing farmers with valuable insights from scientists and industry experts on advancing livestock commercialization in Kenya.
Also present were Agriculture Chief Officer, Mr Emmanuel Kariuki, Livestock Chief Officer, Ms Jessica Weku, KALRO Director, Mr Joseph Munyaso and other county officials.
