KAKAMEGA WOMEN LEADERS HONOURED AT IKWA GALA

At the 6th Edition of the IKWA Women in Leadership Summit & Top 100 Women Gala Dinner held at Southfield Mall Nairobi under the theme “Accelerating Women’s Leadership for Inclusive Growth,” CECM for Social Services CPA Jackline Masicha and Chief Officer for water and sanitation Dr. Mariam Nyongesa from Kakamega County were honoured among the Top 100 Most Impactful Women in Leadership, alongside other distinguished women leaders drawn from different counties across Kenya.
The colorful gala and summit brought together leaders, partners, and stakeholders to celebrate outstanding women making significant contributions in governance, community empowerment, environmental sustainability, and social transformation.
The Chief Guest, Marsabit County First Lady H.E. Alamitu Guyo Jattani, who is also the CFLA Chairperson, applauded women leaders for their resilience and commitment to inclusive development, while calling for stronger partnerships to advance gender equality and create more opportunities for women and youth.
The summit program featured plenary discussions on gender-based violence, leadership addresses, and awards presentations. Ms. Jackline Masicha was recognized as the Best Performing CECM in Inclusive Leadership and Community Empowerment Excellence in Kenya, while Dr. Mariam Nyongesa received the award for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development Leadership Excellence. Other award categories included Most Impactful Female Advocate of the Year, Most Impactful Female Student Leader of the Year, and Media Personality Awards, among others.
CEO of IKWA, Mr. Ben Simanto, noted that the awards continue to recognize and celebrate women whose leadership and dedication are making a positive impact in society and driving transformative change across the country.
Speaking after the recognition, CPA Jackline Masicha, together with Dr. Mariam Nyongesa, expressed appreciation to the organizers of the Independent Kenya Women Awards for the honour, noting that the recognition reflects the growing impact of women leaders in transforming communities and inspiring future generations through dedicated service.
The two leaders also thanked H.E. FCPA Dr. Fernandes Barasa for giving them the opportunity to serve in Kakamega County through their appointments, noting that his leadership and trust in women leaders have enabled them to shine, deliver impactful service, and earn national recognition for their work
