H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa has attended the inaugural meeting for the calendar year 2024 with fellow Excellency Governors, led by the Chair H.E Anne Waiguru at the Council of Governors Headquarters in Nairobi, where they deliberated on various issues affecting County Governments.

Key topics discussed include the Transition of Managed Equipment Services (MES) and the Council’s proposal on the Division of Revenue for FY 2024/2025, amounting to Ksh. 450 Billion against CRA’s proposal of Ksh. 398 Billion.

They also addressed the pressing concern of delayed disbursement of funds to Counties, totaling Ksh. 81.08 Billion and averaging a worrisome three months in arrears, that has affected service delivery in various devolved units.

Central to the discussions also was the report of the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms, where the Governors collectively opposed recommendations that undermine the basic structure and framework of education management by Counties.
