H.E. Dr. FCPA Fernandes Barasa, OGW, today commissioned the newly completed Shivakala ECDE Centre at Shivakala New Comprehensive School in Murhanda Ward, Shinyalu Sub-County, as part of his administrationβs commitment to providing quality education for all.
The centre is complete with two classrooms, furniture, teachersβ office, stores, a kitchen, water tank and children friendly sanitation facilities. It is among several ECDE projects in Shinyalu, including St. Kizito Shihingo, Lugala, Kwirenyi and Mugomari.
Speaking during the commissioning, Governor Barasa said his administration will continue investing in ECDE infrastructure to provide children with quality education and decent learning environments. He noted that 62 ECDE centres have been developed across Kakamega over the last four years, contributing to improved enrollment and retention.
Governor Barasa also highlighted other projects in Shinyalu, including the near completion Shamakhubu Level IV Hospital, solarized Mukulusu and Chirobani water projects, road maintenance works and the KSh6 million delivered in Social Protection Grants across the Sub-County.
The Governor was accompanied by Members of the County Assembly led by Majority Leader Hon. Philip Maina, the host Hon. Elphas Shilosio, and members of the County Executive led by CECM for Education Dr. Bernard Amwayi, among other leaders.
