This morning, H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa inspected the ongoing construction of Bukhungu International Stadium, in preparation for its role as a host venue for CHAN 2024.

The co-hosted games, featuring Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, are scheduled to commence in September. Kakamega County is working tirelessly to meet tight deadlines, aiming to complete the construction within the next three months.

The construction, which is being sponsored through a collaborative effort between the County and National Governments, involves construction of the right C-section, which has a 10,000 seating capacity, expandable to 15,000, bringing the total capacity to 45,000.

The face-lift also involves the uplift of the pitch’s drainage system to mitigate flooding and other effects brought by adverse weather conditions.

The Governor was accompanied by his Executive Officials and Engineers.
