𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐘𝐀𝐋𝐔 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐏𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐊𝐒𝐇.𝟔 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐒 𝐆𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐎𝐑 𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐀 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐒 𝐒𝐎𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓

A total of 120 groups in Shinyalu Sub-County today received KSh.6 million in Social Protection Grants under a programme commissioned by H.E. Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, OGW, to strengthen livelihoods and expand economic opportunities.

Speaking at St. Gonzaga Grounds, Governor Barasa handed over KSh.1 million to beneficiary groups in each of the six wards of Shinyalu Sub-County: Isukha South, Isukha North, Isukha Central, Isukha East, Isukha West and Murhanda. The beneficiaries include women, youth, persons with disabilities, widows and other vulnerable members of the community.

Shinyalu is the fifth Sub-County to benefit from the programme, bringing the total amount disbursed so far to KSh.24 million. The KSh.60 million countywide programme will support 1,200 groups equitably.

Governor Barasa urged the beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly by investing in viable income-generating ventures that can create employment, strengthen household incomes and improve their overall economic wellbeing.

The Governor also highlighted ongoing investments in Shinyalu, covering healthcare, water, roads, bridges and education, among them the near-completion Shamakhubu Level IV Hospital and the Mukulusu Water Project.

ECDE infrastructure is also being expanded across all the six wards, with ECDE Centres at Shiatsala, Lukala, Lirhanda, Shivakala, Irenyi, Vikoshe, St. Kizito Shivungo, Irenji, Ivona and Mugomari. These investments are improving services and creating opportunities while giving the children of Shinyalu a stronger foundation for the future.

Governor Barasa was accompanied by MCAs led by the County Assembly’s Deputy Speaker and also MCA for Isukha East Ward Hon. Benard Shitiabayi, Members of the County Executive led by CECM for Social Services CPA Jackline Masicha, and other leaders.
