𝐊𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐆𝐀 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐘 𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐒 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐅 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐕𝐀 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓
Kakamega County Chief Officer in charge of Risk Management and Service Delivery unit, Dr. Phitalis Masakhwe and his Water and Sanitation counterpart Ms. Mariam Were, led a joint site inspection of the Malava Water Project today ahead of its commissioning by H.E Governor Fernandes Barasa.
The Project situated at Chemuche ward in Malava Sub-County, has been successfully implemented by Kakamega County Water and Sanitation Company (KACWASCO). The initiative received a substantial funding of Ksh 19 million from the Water Sector Trust Fund under the Urban Project Concept Program.
The Malava Water Project entails the construction of a pump house equipped with a new pump set, the development of a 1500m pumping mains, the erection of a 250m3 elevated pressed steel water tank, and the establishment of a 3000m pipeline extension. These infrastructural developments aim at serving an additional 2600 residents from the current 4600 beneficiaries.
Dr. Masakhwe and Ms. Were also extended their site inspection to Chombeli and Chevoso Water Projects within the same area, both completed awaiting commissioning.
Also present during the site inspection were the Malava sub-county administrator, Mr. Patrick Mukenya the director of water and sanitation, and officers from KACWASCO.
