EXECUTIVE INTENSIFIES CONSULTATIONS ON 2026/2027 FISCAL STRATEGY
The Kakamega County Executive Committee today convened a consultative session with representatives from all departments, at the County Chambers, to deliberate on the proposed Fiscal Strategy Paper for the Financial Year 2026/2027. The meeting focused on aligning departmental priorities with the Countyโs medium-term development framework and fiscal projections.
CECM for Finance, Economic Planning and ICT, Benjamin Andama, stated that the engagement was intended to facilitate collective review of the proposed county budget estimates and ensure clarity on departmental allocations, mandates and performance expectations in service delivery.
Departmental representatives submitted proposals and recommendations, urging prioritisation of programmes with direct socio-economic impact at the grassroots. Participants underscored the need for equitable resource distribution across the 60 wards to promote balanced and inclusive development.
The County Budget and Economic Forum (CBEF) Secretary Rev. William Owuya called for transparency, accountability and prudent utilisation of public funds, noting that the fiscal planning must reflect social responsibility and measurable outcomes as envisioned by H.E Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa in his manifesto for the people of Kakamega.
In attendance were the Chairperson of the Kakamega County Disability Caucus and also CBEF member, Lucy Mulombi, County Ombudsman Nelson Majimbo, Advisors and other Senior Officials.
