COUNTY SHOWCASES SUCCESSFUL CLIMATE INVESTMENTS TO NATIONAL TREASURY FLLoCA IMPLEMENTATION TEAM.
The County Government of Kakamega hosted the National Treasury Project Implementation Unit under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Programme for a field assessment of climate-resilient investments implemented across the county.
The delegation toured and evaluated key projects including the Savonna Water Project, Munyanya Climate-Resilient Bridge, the Juncao Grass Project at Bukura ATC, and last-mile water connectivity initiatives that continue to improve access to clean water for local households.
Speaking during the visit, Chief Officer for Water, Climate Change and Natural Resources, Mrs. Mariam Were, expressed gratitude to the National Treasury and development partners for their unwavering support. She noted that the investments have significantly enhanced water access, strengthened community resilience to climate change, and improved livelihoods across the county.
The National Treasury team commended Kakamega County for the successful implementation of the projects and revealed that development partners, led by the Royal Danish Embassy, are considering increased funding in the second phase of the FLLoCA Programme due to the positive impact demonstrated on the ground.
The visit was also attended by Mr. Abraham Barsosio, Programme Manager for County Coordination; Dr. Selela Okoth, Environmental and Social Safeguards Specialist; Mr. Philip Okello from the Royal Danish Embassy, among other stakeholders.
