SHIKOSHE BRIDGE SITE HANDED OVER TO CONTRACTOR
The County Government of Kakamega has handed over the site for Shikoshe Bridge construction in Shirugu-Mugai Ward to the contractor, Flormard Limited. This marks the beginning of construction work aimed at improving connectivity and enhancing socio-economic activities in the area.
The site handover was presided over by the County Executive Committee Member for Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Mrs. Peninah Mukabane, who said the project will provide a critical link between Musungu and Sundulo community areas.
Once completed, the bridge is expected to ease the movement of people, thereby facilitating trade and other socio-economic activities among residents who rely on the route.
The project is being implemented under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) programme at a cost of KSh. 11M, with the construction works expected to take six months.
Speaking during the site handover, Mrs. Mukabane assured residents of the County Government’s continued commitment to ensuring that development projects reach communities across Kakamega County.
She noted that the construction of the Shikoshe Bridge is part of the administration’s efforts to address infrastructure needs at the grassroots level and improve the livelihoods of residents through better connectivity.
Mrs. Mukabane, further, urged residents to continue supporting the development agenda of Governor Barasa, calling on them to re-elect him for a second term to enable his administration to continue implementing transformative projects across the county.
In attendance were area McA Hon. Peter Waname, Director Environment Mr. Anthony Munanga, ward climate change committee members and staff from Environment department.
