COUNTY TO CONTINUE SUPPORTING SOCIAL WELFARE GROUPS.

Kakamega County has pledged its support for the newly launched New Down Community Empowerment Organization (NDCEO) in future disbursements of social grants. Speaking at Emutetemo Primary School in Malaha/ Isongo/ Makunga Ward, Mumias East, during the group’s launch, the CECM for Social Services, Sports, Youth, Gender and Culture, CPA Jackline Masicha, urged young people to focus on building sustainable careers and becoming self-reliant.

Further, the CECM called on parents to guide and educate their children, particularly as the county continues its efforts to address teenage pregnancies. During the function, the CEC led a fundraising drive in support of NDCEO, where she presented the Governor’s contribution.

NDCEO CEO, Janet Wekesa, popularly known as Eshiombo Finest, thanked Kakamega County for recognizing and supporting community-based initiatives focused on empowering young people and improving livelihoods. She said the launch marked an important step towards expanding opportunities for youth, supporting families, and strengthening the organization’s impact in the community.

The main objectives of NDCEO include supporting education, fighting drug abuse, community empowerment, and entrepreneurship training, with the organization seeking to equip young people and community members with skills and opportunities for self-reliance.

Also present were Ms. Beatrice Odira, DCC Mumias East; the Mumias East Sub-County AP Commander, Peter Abira and other stakeholders.
