GOVERNOR OPARANYA IN AMBITIOUS PLAN TO UPGRADE KAKAMEGA AND MUMIAS MUNICIPALITIES
The County government of Kakamega in collaboration with the World Bank has embarked on a Shs 250 million urban infrastructure improvement programme to upgrade the status of Kakamega and Mumias municipalities.
He said markets, roads, sewerage and drainage systems will be targetted for improvement.
The governor said this today during the launch of urban roads improvement projects in Shirere, Mahiakalo, Lurambi and Shieywe wards as well as Mumias town.
“We want Kakamega town promoted to city status by 2022 to be able to attract investors from within Kenya and abroad,” he said.
Governor Oparanya also said landscaping and street lighting will be improved in the two towns.
