BEAUTY PEAGENT WINNER MEETS THE GOVERNOR

Kakamega County 2018 Miss Tourism pageant winner, Linet Kamadi Jandeka, was officially presented to the Governor H.E. Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya at the the headquarters by the County’s Miss Tourism Committee. Governor Oparanya, while congratulating the new county tourism ambassador, said his government is devoted to identifying, nurturing and empowering talent among the county youths and challenged her to prove to the country and the whole world thatindeed Kakamega county is the destination for investment opportunities. He said investment opportunities abound in diverse sectors ranging from Agriculture, Trade, Transport, Communication, Health and Environment, among others. Miss Kamadi leaves for Nairobi City County this Thursday to meet other counties’ representatives at an academy prior to the finals slated for 13th this month in the capital city.

Governor Oparanya assured her of his government’s support towards her victory and career development. On winning the county competitions, she landed a one year employment contract that comes with a Sh2.5M kitty set towards fulfilling corporate social responsibility activities in the county under her management. The Governor asked the County Executive Member for Trade, Industrialisation and Tourism Kassim Were, who was present, to initiate the process of institutionalising the Kakamega Miss Tourism unit for proper government annual planning. He wished the ambassador luck as she flies Kakamega county flag higher.

Kakamega County First Lady, who is also the county’s Miss Tourism Patron, Priscilla Oparanya thanked the Governor for supporting the rigorous exercise for the search of the county’s beauty queen and assured him of her total support to the young lady to ensure she achieves the targets before her as a role model and a civil servant. Mrs Oparanya thanked all her committee members and sponsors for their commitment and contributions, which she attributed to the commendable final results at the county level. She presented Miss Jandeka with a new Holy Bible and asked the new county tourism ambassador to rely on the Almighty God in her endeavors as an individual and as the face of Kakamega county. Miss Jandeka promised to pull a surprise at the national and the world beauty contests.

Also present were the County Secretary Madam Jacinta Adhiambo Oluoch, Chief of Staff Robert Sumbi and his Deputy Hon. Harbert Sore, CO Trade, Industrialisation and Tourism, Fanuel Wemali, Hon. MCA Dorice Matete, Director of Tourism Stephen Musee, CEO KNCCI Antony Amusala, Chair KFTG Rev William Ouya and other Tourism Committee Members.
