BEWARE OF THE COVID-19 DELTA VARIANT – PROF. KUTIMA CAUTIONS

Deputy Governor Prof. Philip Museve Kutima has appealed to residents of Kakamega County to tighten their grip on the fight against the Covid-19 disease. He was speaking at Matioli, Butsotso South Ward, Lurambi Sub-County when he condoled with the family, relatives and friends of the late Mzee Angaya Wemali Friday evening where he warned residents against throwing caution to the wind in the fight against the killer disease.

Prof. Kutima disclosed that apart from the people reported in health facilities to have died of the disease, so many other unreported cases succumb to Covid-19 related complications.

“The directive for immediate burial in funerals by the Government is not in vain; the idea behind it is to minimise interactions and contact of people in social gatherings such as this,” he explained and advised residents to strictly observe the Covid-19 measures and protocols of hand washing, social distancing, wearing masks and sanitizing.

The DG reminded the mourners to show up at the Covid-19 designated vaccination centres when the exercise commences and dispelled fears spread by a section of the masses that the vaccine has adverse side effects.

On the political front, the County’s second in command asked residents to support his 2022 Gubernatorial candidature reiterating his readiness and expertise to fastrack development in the County due to his experience and proven management skills after learning from his able boss H.E DR. FCPA Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya.

He mourned Mzee Angaya as a hard-working family man, strict disciplinarian and committed Christian. The late who was the father to Trade, Industrialization and Tourism Chief Officer and Ag. Chief Officer for Health Services Mr. Fanuel Wemali, will be laid to rest tomorrow (Saturday).
