BITSENDE CLAN HAILS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS IN SHINYALU

Members of the Bitsende clan in Murhanda Ward, Shinyalu Sub-County, have welcomed ongoing development projects in the area, particularly the new road infrastructure and maintenance works. This came out during the inauguration of their new patron, Mr. Alexander Lichina Alusa. The members of the clan commended the efforts by HE Governor Barasa to address key infrastructure needs in the region.

The clan recently met the Governor for a consultative meeting during which they presented roads development as a top priority in the area. Among the roads they cited were the Shinyalu Complex–Madioli, Mukongo–Mahiakalo, Shibuye–Likhumbi–Shilolavakhali and Mwilitsa–Mungolo–Shelewa River road. Some of the road projects have already been completed, while work on others is ongoing.

Chief Officer for Trade, Ms. Faith Gitira, who represented Governor Barasa at the ceremony, encouraged the clan to apply for a microfinance loan as a Community-Based Organisation (CBO) to support and expand their economic activities. She later presented the Governor’s contribution to support their kitty.

Chief Officer for Tourism, Mr. Saxon Kweyu, said the county government will work with the Bitsende clan to preserve their historical site as a cultural tourism destination.

He said the county plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the clan to facilitate the preservation of the site, where visitors will be able to learn about the history and culture of the Bitsende people.
