BUNYALA ELDERS PLEDGE SUPPORT FOR GOVERNOR BARASA, PRESENT DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES FOR NAVAKHOLO.

H.E. Governor FCPA Dr. Fernandes Barasa today held a consultative meeting with the Bunyala Council of Elders drawn from across Navakholo Constituency at his Harambee residence in Matungu. Led by Chairman Abubakar Nandikove, the elders presented a memorandum outlining key development priorities and pledged their support for the Governor’s leadership and development agenda.

The elders highlighted the need for continued collaboration with the County Government, including support and recognition of the annual Bunyala Cultural Day held every December 27, improved road connectivity, enhanced service delivery and timely implementation of development projects. They also cited progress on key initiatives, including the completion of Lutaso ECDE Centre, which is ready for commissioning, Nderema and Mukama ECDE Centres, Lwakhupa ECDE Centre, Busangavia Dispensary and Malaha Stock Ring.

The Council noted progress on the Bukheri Water Project, where 624 households have already been connected, with an additional 600 awaiting connection, as well as the acquisition of land for the establishment of a county polytechnic in East Bunyala. They requested additional interventions, including a milk cooling plant in Bunyala West, a maternity block at Buchangu Health Centre, commencement of Matoyi Dispensary and Busangavia Bridge projects, and tarmacking of the Eshirakwe Forest–Chebuyusi Road.

Governor Barasa said the County Government remains committed to equitable development and improving services across Navakholo and the entire county. He noted that completed projects are being prepared for commissioning, while ongoing initiatives will be completed within the set timelines. The Governor also announced that plans are underway to construct a modern maternity wing at Navakholo Level IV Hospital and strengthen staffing in health facilities following the recent recruitment of healthcare workers.

Governor Barasa thanked the Bunyala Council of Elders for their engagement and commitment to working with the County Government in advancing development. Also present were Honourable MCAs Sebastian Mang’eni (Bunyala West), Benjamin Ochwaya Were (Bunyala Central), Rodgers Nato (Bunyala East) and Joyce Situma (Nominated), the Chief of Staff Hon. Dennis Wekesa, and Chief Officer for Communications and e-Government Ms. Mildred Neema Okwako.
