CoG LAUDS COUNTY GOVERNMENTS FOR EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE IN HEALTH SECTOR UPGRADE.

The Council of Governors (CoG) has lauded the efforts of devolved units to upgrade the quality of health facilities and services.

Addressing the media in Machakos County during the weekly press briefing on the fight against COVID 19, CoG chairman, H.E. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya said county governments should be commended for lifting the health sector from decades of neglect and under-performance during the pre-devolution era.

“Anyone thinking of reverting back to pre-devolution period is day dreaming,” the CoG boss said.

Governor Oparanya noted however that wananchi in rural setting had not fully appreciated the serious danger posed by coronavirus unlike their kin in urban centres. He called on urban dwellers to step up COVID 19 sensitization efforts among their relatives and friends back home.

The chairman made the remarks today at Machakos County Government headquarters, flanked by host governor Dr. Alfred Mutua as well as colleague governors: H.E. Joseph ole Lenku and H.E. Mohammed Kuti.
