Education is the game changer for Kakamega County

Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya today challenged the teaching fraternity in Kakamega County to pull up their socks in shaping the future of this county and nations through education. Governor Oparanya said this when he met teachers of Khwisero and Butere Sub-Counties at Khwisero primary and Butere Girls secondary schools respectively. The Governor reinstated the government’s commitment to improve the learning environment across the county by building and equipping necessary structures as well as bringing on board qualified sciences teachers to lend a hand in our schools.
Today’s motivational Speaker was Principal Alliance High School, Mr. Gideon Kariuki and the topic of the day was “How to become a game Changer.” Last week the Governor was in Malava Subcounty on a similar mission where he applauded the subcounty for good performance. This program will see Governor Oparanya visit all the twelve sub-counties with a sharp eye and keen ear towards all possible efforts necessary in uplifting education standards in Kakamega County.
Elsewhere, Kakamega County First Lady H.E Hon. Priscilla Oparanya celebrated her birthday today at Mumias Muslim primary school treating pupils and residents of Mumias West, Mumias East and Matungu Sub-Counties who are infected by jiggers.
Speaking at the venue, Kakamega county Chief Officer for Health Services Dr. Brenda Makokha said the county government has budgeted for war against jiggers in the next financial year.
The anti-jigger campaign is sponsored by the county government of Kakamega, St. Marys Hospital Mumias and Yatta Development. The First Lady is on a spree of Subcounty health checks and treatment, maximising the beyond zero mobile clinic vehicle.
Governor Oparanya was accompanied by The First Lady H.E Priscilla Oparanya and H.E Caro Ambetsa, MPs Andrew Toboso (Butere), Benard Shinali (Ikolomani) Fmr Shinyalu MP Kizito Mugali, Hon. MCAS, CECs, Leadership of Teachers at both levels of government, among other guests.
