GO FOR BOOSTER SHOTS – GOVERNOR OPARANYA URGES

Kakamega Governor H.E Dr. FCPA Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya has implored residents to visit health facilities near them for the Covid-19 booster vaccine. He has also reminded citizens who are yet to get vaccinated to quickly receive the jab.

The Governor said this at Bumini, Mumias East Sub-County on Tuesday during a training programme for Community Area Council Members (CACM) amid reports by the Ministry of Health that the country has recorded a 4.4 percent positivity rate with 117 new Covid-19 cases being reported on Tuesday.

The County boss noted that with increased interactions especially during this campaign period, residents need to tighten the Covid-19 prevention measures such as regular hand washing, masking, staying away from crowds and sanitising.

On the upcoming general polls, Dr. Oparanya advised residents to elect a leader who is capable of carrying on with the transformative agenda he has initiated as the pioneer Governor and cautioned against being swayed by appealing political pronunciations that do not translate to development.

“As the Cabinet Secretary for Treasury to be, l want to work with a development oriented leader at the County level whom we can trust with finances from the Exchequer and other development partners,” FCPA Oparanya stated.

He said the CACMs will act as a bridge between the County Executive and residents where they will be expected to highlight all the needs of citizens and present them to the Executive for action.

“This is a people driven initiative; we must allow residents to participate and make decisions in governance as entrenched in our Constitution,” the Governor noted.

The training programme will be carried out in all the 12 Sub-Counties.
