GOVERNOR BARASA DISBURSES KSH.6 MILLION TO 120 LURAMBI GROUPS.

H.E. Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA, OGW, today at Eshisiru Centre, disbursed KSh.6 million in Social Protection Grants to 120 beneficiary groups across the six wards of Lurambi Sub-County; Butsotso Central; Butsotso East; Butsotso South; Shieywe; Shirere; and Mahiakalo, providing critical financial support to strengthen livelihoods, expand income-generating activities and empower vulnerable households.

Each ward received KSh.1 million to support 20 groups, with the programme benefiting women, youth, persons with disabilities, widows and other vulnerable members of the community.

In his address, Governor Barasa urged beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly and invest in viable enterprises that can generate sustainable income, improve household livelihoods and strengthen the economic capacity of their groups.

The KSh.6 million allocation is part of the County Government’s KSh.60 million Social Protection Grants Programme, which is supporting 1,200 groups across all the 60 wards of Kakamega County.

The Governor also highlighted key development projects being implemented in Lurambi, including the ongoing construction of the Kakamega Level Six Hospital, the Shivakala–Nyayo Tea Zone Bitumen Road, and bridge projects among them the completed George Abura and Munyanya bridges. He further cited investments in ECDE infrastructure at Ebambwa, Eshilibo and Rosterman, among others.

He was accompanied by Members of the County Assembly led by area MCA Hon. Evans Ambale, members of the County Executive Committee led by CECM for Social Services CPA Jackline Masicha, National and County Governments Officials and other local leaders.
