KAKAMEGA COUNTY VALIDATES INReMP PRIORITY AREAS.

The County Government of Kakamega has sensitized key stakeholders on the geographical mapping, targeting and validation of Focal Development Areas (FDAs) under the Integrated Natural Resources Management Programme (INReMP).

The meeting chaired by CECM for Agriculture, Irrigation, Cooperatives, Livestock, Veterinary Services and Fisheries Mophat Mandela focused on review of the proposed priority areas, provision of technical feedback and building consensus on areas where the programme will be implemented.

The CECM emphasized the need for members to understand their respective roles and respect the work of the technical teams as the county finalizes the geographical mapping and targeting exercise.

CECM for Water, Environment, Natural Resources & Climate Change Mrs. Peninah Mukabane on her part said the county is committed to ensuring that INReMP interventions promote sustainable management of natural resources and improve community livelihoods.

Their Finance, Budget, Economic Planning, ICT, e-Government & Communication counterpart Mr. Benjamin Andama called for proper planning, coordination, accountability and prudent use of programme resources, noting that the validation process would help ensure interventions are well targeted and aligned with county priorities.

National INReMP Programme Coordinator Leonard Kubok also emphasized the importance of stakeholder participation in the implementation process.

The sensitization and validation exercise is being undertaken in Kakamega, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gishu counties.

Present were Kakamega County Commissioner Mr. Taari Rwaria, Chief Officers led by Emmanuel Kariuki (Agriculture), Titus Omengo (County Programme Coordinator INReMP Kakamega) among other senior government officials.
