GOVERNOR BARASA LAUNCHES CONSTRUCTION OF LUMAKANDA – MANYOYI ROAD
In an effort to enhance communication and trading activities in Lugari Sub-County, the Governor of Kakamega County H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa on Wednesday launched construction of the 8kms Lumakanda – Manyonyi road to bitumen standards; a critical road linking Mautuma towards Bungoma County.
In his speech to the residents, the Governor stated that upon its completion in two years time, the road is expected to open up Lugari, Kakamega’s food basket, to the rest of the County and Western region. To urbanize the Sub-County even further, Governor Barasa reiterated his administration’s committment to elevate Lumakanda town to Municipality status; the County Government has also earmarked establishment of a maize milling plant in Lugari to provide a ready market for maize farmers from Likuyani and Lugari Sub-Counties.
H.E the Governor also advised heads of learning institutions in Kakamega County to maintain high standards of sanitation in their schools owing to the medical incidents witnessed in various institutions within the County.
He was accompanied with Members of Kakamega County Assembly led by the Deputy Speaker Hon. Benard Shitiabayi and County Executives led by the CECM for Roads, Public Works and Energy Architect Eng. Patrick Wesonga.
