Governor Barasa Launches Education Support Kitty at Munami Secondary AGM.
Today, H.E. FCPA Fernandes Barasa graced the AGM of Munami Secondary School in Namamali Ward, Matungu Sub-County, where he launched an Educational Support Kitty to assist students from low-income backgrounds.
In his address, Governor Barasa highlighted that despite the advisory from the Controller of Budget barring county governments from issuing bursaries to secondary school students, the Council of Governors has challenged this order in court. He emphasized that the CDF bursary alone is insufficient, and therefore, counties must be allowed to step in and bridge the gap.
He also mentioned the ongoing construction of an ECDE at Namamali Muslim School, the maintenance of Namalasire and Munami-Nambelekeya roads, and the planned upgrade of Lunganyiro Dispensary to a health center in the next financial year.
He thanked President William Ruto for scrapping the National Identity Card application fee, saying the directive will encourage more youths to acquire the cards and eventually register as voters.
Present at the AGM were MCAs led by host Dr. Bonface Mabuka, the County Executive led by CECM Dr. Bonface Okoth, teachersโ unions, the clergy, parents, and the school administration led by Principal Patrick Siketi.
