GOVERNOR BARASA LEADS RESIDENTS IN CELEBRATING BISHOP SULUMETI’S GOLDEN JUBILEE
Kakamega County Governor H.E. FCPA Fernandes Barasa on Saturday led residents and leaders from all walks of life in celebrating the Episcopal Golden Jubilee of Rt. Rev. Bishop Emeritus Philip Sulumeti at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega.
In his address, Governor Barasa recognised Bishop Sulumeti as a champion in academia who contributed immensely in the establishment of reputable learning institutions and also sponsored many young people to fulfill their lifetime dreams in education.
“Many institutions initiated by Bishop Sulumeti, the likes of Mukumu Girls and Eregi Teachers Training College have continually recorded outstanding performances both at the County and National levels,” the Governor noted adding that he will promote such achievements by the Bishop Emeritus through construction and equipping of learning institutions in devolved functions in line with his manifesto.
To support Bishop Sulumeti’s achievements in the health sector FCPA Barasa revealed that his administration will not only operationalize the County Teaching and Referral Hospital in collaboration with the National Government but also support both private and faith-based health facilities to ensure access and provision of quality medical services to all.
The County boss also commended the Bishop for his sustained sensitisation on the importance of conserving the environment and called on residents to inculcate in them the culture of tree growing.
