COUNTY DONATES KSHS. 336,000 TO SILUNGAI BOYS

The County Government of Kakamega on Thursday donated Kshs. 336,600 to Silungai Boys High School in Malava Sub-County as aid to 140 students whose personal effects were consumed in a fire incident that gutted down a dormitory at the school on 15th October 2022.

Speaking when he visited the school to give the donation, Kakamega Deputy Governor H.E Hon. Ayub Savula who represented the Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa said the County Government had taken the initiative following appeals from parents whose children were affected when the incident occurred.

The Deputy Governor said such incidents will be managed better once the County disaster management facility being established at Mukhonje area is completed.

The school Principal Mr. Isaac Nakwekwe said the police are still investigating the incident that occurred on that fateful day, while students were in class. He added that the burnt dormitory will cost Kshs. 9.5 Million to be re-constructed.
