GOVERNOR BARASA PAYS TRIBUTE TO MAMA TERESIA MAKOKHA, CALLS FOR ENHANCED SECURITY IN KHALABA.
H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA , OGW., today joined the family, relatives, friends and residents of Busombi Community Area in Khalaba Ward, Matungu Sub-County, for the funeral service of the late Mama Teresia Khasusa Makokha. He eulogised her as a devoted matriarch, committed Catholic Legionary and prayer warrior whose life was marked by faith, humility and selfless service. The Governor conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family and prayed for God’s comfort during their time of grief.
Addressing mourners, Governor Barasa outlined key development projects being implemented in Khalaba Ward and Matungu Sub-County. He said the County Government is constructing ECDE centres at Ebusambe, Ebulonga and Busombi, has connected the Busombi Water Project to expand access to clean water, and completed the modern maternity wing at Matungu Level Four Hospital to strengthen maternal and child healthcare.
The Governor further announced that construction of Ebusambe Bridge will begin soon, following the completion of Namirimo and Lutaso bridges, while works on the HarambeeโKhaunga tarmac road are set to resume to improve transport and stimulate economic growth. He also announced plans to disburse KSh 60 million in social grants to women, youth and other special interest groups in the coming months to enhance economic empowerment.
Governor Barasa urged leaders to work together for the common good and called on residents to uphold peace and unity. He appealed to the National Police Service to strengthen security operations in Khalaba Ward following rising insecurity, condemned criminal activities linked to the Clear Sacco group, and called for those responsible to be brought to justice.
Also present were Administrators, the clergy led by Fr. Eugene Inyanji, and members of the public.
