GOVERNOR BARASA RECEIVES KAKAMEGA HOMEBOYZ FOOTBALL TEAM

Kakamega Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa on Monday joined football lovers at Bukhungu Stadium in welcoming Kakamega Homeboyz Football Club team players, members of the Technical Bench and the Club Management following the team’s win against Tusker FC in the Mozzart Bet Cup finals played at Moi Kasarani Sports Stadium in Nairobi on Saturday.

Addressing the fans and players at Bukhungu Stadium, Governor Barasa congratulated the team for clinching the trophy saying the victory not only profiles the County as a hub of talents but also presents a perfect platform for the sportsmen to showcase their prowess at the international stage when they represent the country at the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Governor further assured that his administration will support and fund all sports disciplines reiterating that Kakamega County will host select matches of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations if Kenya’s bid sails through. He actioned the CECM for Social Services, Sports, Youth, Gender and Culture Mr Mophat Mandela to ensure Phase Two and Three of construction of the facility is fastracked.

FCPA Barasa also announced that he will assume the position of Patron at the Club.

The CECM, Mr Mandela, used the platform to invite selectors from the top flight Kenyan Leagues to scout for players from the upcoming Governor’s Cup Bonanza that kicks off in August at the Ward Level.

Kakamega Homeboyz Club Chairman Cleophas Shimanyula on his part thanked the County Government for allowing the team to use Bukhungu Stadium as their home ground and rallied residents to support the team which he termed Community owned.
