KAKAMEGA TRADERS URGED TO COOPERATE WITH THE GOVERNMENT

The County Government of Kakamega will organise a public participation forum with an aim of seeking views from key stakeholders on relocation of traders to the upcoming state of the art Sichirayi Market in Lurambi Sub-County, once it is completed.

This was revealed by the Chief Officer for Housing and Urban Development Ms Faith Gitira on Tuesday when she met traders, public service vehicles operators and other Kakamega business community members at the County Social Hall where she assured them that H.E FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa’s administration is committed to providing a conducive environment for their businesses terming them a critical player towards realization of the Governor’s Wealth creation agenda.

The Chief Officer noted that the County Government will address the challenges raised during the meeting among them; repair of facilities and structures; and called for cooperation from all stakeholders.

Shieywe Ward Member of County Assembly Hon. Moses Musundi appreciated the County Government for involving the business community in decision making saying it will go a long way in restoring law and order in the Municipality.

Governor Barasa is keen on facilitating a successful elevation of Kakamega Municipality to a City and has already set up a team that will oversee the process.

Present was the Kakamega Municipal Manager Mr Dan Musita and other Government officers.
