GOVERNOR VISITS ACCIDENT SURVIVORS

Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya and his Kericho counterpart Paul Chepkwony this evening visited survivors of Kericho bus accident at Kericho County Referral Hospital.

Some of the victims blamed overspeeding and overloading for the tragic accident that has so far claimed 56 lives. Governor Oparanya said 22 bodies were due for immediate transfer from Kericho to Kakamega and that the County Government will meet funeral expenses as well as make arrangements for a joint mass funeral service with families of victims. A county funeral committee will be set up in the Office of the Governor to ensure a smooth send off.

He thanked Kericho Governor for writing off hospital expenses and mortuary fees for the victims as well as related emergency services immediately after the accident occurred. The leaders commended the compassion and solidarity with which the people of Kericho responded to the tragic incident, saying it postively reflected the spirit of the Lake Region Economic Bloc.

Also present were MCAs, Chief of Staff Robert Sumbi, his Deputy /PA to H.E. Mr. Herbert Sore and the Economic Adviser, Mr. Paul Posho.
