The Kakamega County Honors and Awards Bill 2017 is an Act of the County Assembly that provides a criteria for identification, selection and honoring of acts of heroism and excellence. The Kakamega County Order of Precedence Bill 2017 is an Act of the County Assembly to provide for the order of precedence for officials at official, public and county functions and for connected purposes. The County Assembly as well enacted the County Flag, Emblems and Names Act 2015 to provide for establishment of the County symbols of Authority and Identity, namely; County Coat of Arms, County Seal, County Flag and County Anthem. The bill gives effect to and operationalizes the County flag, Emblem and Names Act 2015 by inserting the text of the County Anthem in English and Kiswahili. The amendment also provides for offenses under the Act and associated penalties.
Governor Oparanya observed that the Constitution provides for county governments to have Emblems, Anthems and other essential symbols of unity. He expressed optimism that the three bills will promote cohesion among the county residents and encourage a sense of belonging and togetherness.
Present as well were Deputy Governor H.E Prof. Philip Kutima, CEC Members, County Assembly Speaker Hon. Morris Buluma, Kakamega County Assembly Leader of Majority Hon. Robert Makhanu among others.
