KAKAMEGA COUNTY ROADS INSPECTION

H.E Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya was on a day long inspection tour of roads under construction in Mumias East, Mumias West, Matungu and Navakholo sub counties.

Governor Oparanya said his mission of opening up the entire county through an improved road network is aimed at spurring socio-economic development among the residents. This is in line with Kenya’s Vision 2030 blue print.

Some of the roads inspected today were the Isongo-Khaimba-Bumini road in Mumias East, R. Khalaba-Chanda Market- Makokhwe-Lunyika road that connects with the famous Khaunga bridge in Matungu, Health Centre-Matawa-Indangalasia road in Mumias West and Tomliza – Siyenga loop road in Navakholo among others. The Governor commenced the inspection in Khwisero, Butere and parts of Mumias East sub counties last week.

He was accompanied by Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works CECM Dr. Collins Matemba his Chief Officer Eng. Joseph Sweta and the respective contractors.

Elsewhere, Kakamega County Deputy Governor H.E Prof Philip Museve Kutima presided over the Kakamega Agri-Tradefair themed “Transforming lives by creating wealth through Agriculture” at the Mumias Cultural Centre today. The Deputy Governor called on residents to utilise the current rains to ensure Kakamega has enough food in its basket this year. He announced to residents that both fertilizer and farm equipment offered by the County Government at subsidized prices were now available in Sub county and Ward administrators offices.
