KAKAMEGA GOVERNOR HOLDS CRUCIAL TALKS ON MUMIAS SUGAR COMPANY REVIVAL

Council of Governors (CoG) Chair and Kakamega governor, H.E. Hon. FCPA Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, yesterday held a consultative meeting with KCB Bank, Mumias Sugar Company Receiver Manager, Pattadakal Venkanna Raghavendra Rao (PVR Rao) and senior County Government officials on the receivership of Mumias Sugar Company.

Participants from the County Government included the CECM for Trade, Industrialization and Tourism, Mr. Kassim Were and the Chief Officer, Service Delivery, Ambassador James Ochami.

The meeting held at the chairman’s office in Nairobi resolved, among other things, that:
a) a technical committee should start implementation of the company’s revival plan
b) politics should be avoided at all costs to allow revival of Mumias Sugar Company
c) all legal provisions be halted to focus on the company
d) no sale or mortgage of the company’s immovable assets
