KAKAMEGA MUNICIPALITY IN SEARCH OF IDENTITY SYMBOLS AND A SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN

Kakamega Municipality is in the process of coming up with it’s own Logo, a Flag and also a Solid Waste Management Plan.

Addressing an inception meeting Wednesday afternoon at the Kakamega Sports Club, Kakamega Municipality Board of Management Chairperson Rtd Col. Joab Akhulia said the purpose of the meeting was to bring together key stakeholders to review and cement two important processes necessary for successful results expected to be delivered within set timelines.

Mr Akhulia emphasised the need for a Simple, Memorable, Ageless, Reliable and Thoughtful (SMART) and futuristic identity tools that stand out amongst others while observing legal and constitutional guidelines, including conducting public participation forums involving all the stakeholders.

“Refer to our strategic plan and the County’s branding manual as you undertake the tasks at hand,” Mr. Akhulia guided.

The Kakamega Municipality Manager Madam Violet Ofisi, while emphasizing the Chairman’s remarks, asked the consultants to comply with county policies and terms of references when carrying out their assignment.

The two consultants; Kentice Tikolo, Managing Director Cause Impact Ltd and Eng. Abubakar Shiundu, Director Slywa Agencies Ltd. thanked Kakamega County Government for awarding them the tenders to serve the Municipality promising to timely deliver required tools of identity and a Solid Waste Management Plan respectively for the Municipality while abiding by the laws of the land.

In attendance were Public Health Officer Mr. Robert Ongayi, Municipal Surveyor Caleb Shiundu, Head of Environment Mr. Jacob Shamallah, Kakamega Municipality Sectional Heads among other Officers.
