KAKAMEGA PARTNERS WITH ZIZI AFRIQUE TO BOOST ENROLMENT IN COUNTY POLYTECHNICS

The County Government of Kakamega has embarked on an ambitious initiative dubbed ”FormNiTVET” to increase the enrolment of students in County Polytechnics.

In partnership with Zizi Afrique and PR Organization, the County through the Department of Education, Science and Technology has commenced a sensitization drive to educate the residents of Kakamega County, more so the young people, on the importance of enrolling for education in County Polytechnics.

Dr Bonface Okoth, the incharge CECM while flagging off a roadshow that is expected to traverse the entire County rallying residents to embrace the County learning institutions expressed his gratitude to the Organization for partnering with Kakamega terming the collaboration a critical marketing strategy that will change the attitude of residents towards Polytechnics and TVETs.

The CECM stated that the institutions are good hubs for equipping students with knowledge and skills to meet specific job market needs thus making them self-reliant and a big contributor to Wealth creation, a key pillar of H.E. FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa’s Manifesto.

Ms. Vivien Ayuma, the Chief Officer for Education highlighted the critical role played by technical training institutions’ in bridging the skills gap noting that they equip students with practical and relevant skills necessary for success in their chosen careers.

Ms. Beria Wawera, representing the Zizi Afrique team on her part appreciated the County for the partnership and said that Polytechnics and TVETs play a vital role in a country’s industrialization agenda. She called on residents to take advantage of the existing and functional County Pollytechnics in Kakamega County.

The roadshow is scheduled to run from Tuesday, October 17th to October 21st, 2023, in all the Sub-Counties.

Also in attendance were the Director for TVET Mr. Alloys Oseko, County Polytechnic Principals and Sub County training Officers.
