Kakamega County will this year host the Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) at the Bukhungu International Stadium.
This was revealed today during a stakeholders meeting hosted by CS Sports Hon. Ababu Namwamba, graced by the Governor H.E. FCPA Fernandes Barasa in Nairobi.
The consultative meeting also discussed and agreed on strategies to ensure the readiness of the Stadium by June.
In addition to co-hosting CHAN 2024 Championships with Uganda and Tanzania, Kenya has also been selected to host the AFCON games in 2027 where Kakamega’s Bukhungu Stadium has also been considered.
The Governor was accompanied by CECMs Mr. Mophat Mandela of Sports and Architect Patrick Kundu of Roads and Public Works.
