NATIONAL & COUNTY GOVERNMENT TO COOPERATE IN PROMOTING SPORTS

The Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and Arts Hon. Ababu Namwamba has assured that the National Government will work closely with H.E Governor Fernandes Barasa’s administration in promoting the welfare and interests of youth in Kakamega County.

The CS made the remarks on Friday evening in the presence of the County boss during the finals of this year’s Under 15s and 17s Elijah Lidonde Foundation Championship at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega.

Hon. Ababu expressed his admiration for Governor Barasa’s vision, passion and commitment to develop talents despite being sworn into office a few months ago.

The Governor on his part welcomed the partnership with the National Government in developing sports infrastructure so as to enhance his agenda in identifying and nurturing talents in the County. He thanked the organizers for staging a colourful event.

FCPA Barasa said that his government has rolled out a programme that will support the youth across the county and reminded residents that Kakamega County will host the second edition of the Governor’s Cup later in the year.

CS Ababu announced the National Government’s plan to assist completion of the third phase of Bukhungu International Stadium once the County Government completes the ongoing Phase II.

Lurambi won Under 15s boys, Shinyalu were crowned Under 17s girls while Lurambi boys took home the Under 17 boys trophy.
