1.2 BILLION KITTY FOR KAKAMEGA LEARNERS

The underprivileged bright learners in Kakamega County will in the next financial year 2022/23 benefit from a Ksh 4 Million bursary kitty per Ward advanced by the County Government in-line with the Governor H.E. Fernandes Barasa’s pillar on ensuring improved education for residents.

This was revealed by the Governor during the funeral service of the late Mama Ebby Ayuma Mullavu, who was wife to Isukha West Member of County Assembly Hon. Samwel Mullavu on Saturday.

Addressing the mourners, the Governor said that his administration will increase the current KShs 2 Million bursary kitty to KSh 4 Million so as to cater for more deserving and needy pupils and students in learning institutions across the Country.

The County CEO acknowledged that his administration inherited his predecessor’s budget and assured that he will cooperate with all stakeholders including Members of County Assembly to improve the living standards of residents.

Every ward, the Governor assured, will receive Ksh 20 Million for flagship projects in Water, Roads and Energy sectors. He announced that he will collaborate with Shinyalu Member of Parliament Hon. Fredrick Ikana to ensure Airstrip-Shinyalu-Chepsonoi road is tarmacked.

FCPA Barasa added that his government will construct and operationalize Shinyalu Tea Factory which he noted, will create massive employment opportunities for residents.
