PROSOIL PROJECT MARKS NEW CHAPTER FOR FARMERS
Agriculture stakeholders convened for a ProSoil Project meeting, a decade-long initiative under the Global Programme “Soil Protection and Rehabilitation for Food Security.” Implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development , the forum provided a platform to reflect on 2025 achievements, key milestones, and the transformative progress made in restoring soil health and promoting climate-smart agriculture across the county.
The discussions centered on the formal transition of responsibilities to the County Government as the project approaches its completion in May 2026. Sub-County Agricultural Officers, Crop Officers, Ward Agricultural Officers, and representatives from NAVCDP and Bukura contributed to strategies aimed at safeguarding the gains made at grassroots level. Strong emphasis was placed on sustainability, farmer empowerment, and strengthening extension services to ensure continuity and lasting impact beyond the project’s lifecycle.
The event was graced by CECM Agriculture Mr..Mophat Mandela, who thanked all implementing partners on behalf of H.E. Dr. Fernandes Barasa, appreciating their commitment and impactful contribution to soil restoration and food security in the region.
Present were Agriculture Chief Officer Mr. Emmanuel Kariuki and Ms Flora Ajwera from GIZ.
