Following the recent MOU between the County Government and Aquarech Ltd , the companyโ€™s CEO, Mr. Dave Oketch, visited CECM Mophat Mandela to discuss enhancing the partnership to boost livelihoods, in line with Governor Barasaโ€™s food security and wealth creation goals.

Through the Youth in Sustainable Aquaculture program(YISA), Aquarech is supporting youth by helping build large fish ponds, providing stock, market access, and grants. Additionally, The company will aid in fish aggregation and fingerling production at county hatcheries in Khwisero, Shinyalu, and Lurambi subcounties.

Mr. Mandela shared his optimism about the partnership, highlighting its potential to empower youth with sustainable income opportunities while boosting food security and driving economic development.

Chief Officer for Fisheries, Ms. Jessica Weku, added that the collaboration would enhance the capacity of county hatcheries and secure a steady supply of fingerlings, which is vital for expanding fish farming throughout the county.

Also present were Mr Jonathan Masaba, County Fisheries Director, Mr Noman Munala, ABDP Project Cordinator and other county officials.
