COUNTY 10KMS ROAD CONSTRUCTION RESUMES

THE county government of Kakamega has stepped up construction works on roads in each ward through the 10 kilometres per ward roads upgrade programme.

H.E. Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya today launched construction of among others, Lidambiza-Kasavai primary and Dukamoja-Ishianji primary school roads in Idakho East, Emuraka-Eshibeye-Wasomba Junction and Matioli-Luyia-Eshiribo primary school roads in Butsotso South and Vihulu-Musingu road, Isukha West in Shinyalu sub county.

The Governor used the opportunity to thank residents for re-electing him during the August 2017 poll and promised to work round the clock to deliver on his campaign manifesto. He announced that 30 youths and 20 women, totalling 50 people will be contracted under the County Youth service programme He urged leaders and locals to ensure those recruited in the programme are deserving residents of the respective wards. Each of the 60 wards in the county will benefit from the programme. The Governor said starting the next financial year in July, his government will, in addition to the shelter upgrade programme for the elderly and less fortunate, also provide beddings and install electricity for the beneficiaries in line with his manifesto of providing clean, piped water and electricity in every household by the year 2021.
